Course Information
This course offers practical, hands-on training tailored to companies with multi-color flexo rotary die cutters. The course moves participants away from the mentality that brown box equipment is not good enough for quality graphics. The equipment at Clemson is geared for brown box learning (quick changeovers, press ready ink, least number of steps to set up the machine), but the course also practices pushing the capabilities of two or three-color equipment. Throughout the week, participants set-up and run a total of
four jobs.
What you Will Learn
  • Make-up and specifications of corrrugated substrates
  • Anilox roll specifications, purpose, and care
  • Bolting on rotary die boards
  • Influence of impression on registration
  • Finding the correct die cut impression
  • Measuring and adjusting pH and viscosity of inks
  • Best use of print control targets
  • Measuring and controlling dot gain
  • 3-color process printing
  • Stabilizing a corrugated press to achieve consitent print and die-cut
Press Specifications
Training is conducted on a 3-color Martin DRO 1628 NT with 250 lpi, 7.5 bcm/sq. in. anilox rolls. The press is equipped with IR driers and features a 66" soft-anvil rotary diecutter.
Training is dedicated to the understanding of the printing and converting processes and not to the function of the machine. When requested, classes can be conducted for the purpose of machine training.
