Beginning Laboratory
The beginning lab includes three offset duplicators, three screen printing presses, a conventional prep area, and complete facilities for coating, imaging, cleaning and reclaiming screens. Its independent darkrooms allow students to work on process cameras and other auxiliary equipment including contacting and 35mm photography. There is also a dedicated computer lab for electronic composition for beginning students. The first laboratory course requires students to complete all prepress using conventional means; beginning with the second laboratory course electronic prepress technology is employed.Some projects beginning students complete include: stationary, screen printed posterizations, screen printed textiles, black & white photography, screen printed color separation from black & white negatives using filters, duotones printed via offset.
